Strengthening Financial Stability of 911 EMS Providers

Sen. Robinson and other local leaders join the 32 EMS agencies in Allegheny County at the 2025 Allegheny County EMS Legislative Forum.
I joined other local leaders and the 32 EMS agencies in Allegheny County at the 2025 Allegheny County EMS Legislative Forum where we discussed EMS challenges and how we can continue to work together in a bipartisan matter.

This week, I joined Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) in introducing legislation to establish fair and direct reimbursement rates for 911 emergency medical services providers across Pennsylvania, helping ensure lifesaving emergency care remains available in communities throughout the commonwealth. We introduced this bill during National EMS Week, a celebration that began over 50 years ago to recognize the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s frontline.

Our EMS professionals answer some of our worst, most frightening calls and bring life-saving skills, care, and compassion to patients across this commonwealth every day. A week of recognition isn’t enough – we must act to ensure they can continue to provide these necessary services for years to come.

Senate Bill 1342 would require insurers to provide fair and direct reimbursement for mandated 911 emergency medical services, regardless of whether the EMS provider is in-network.

Celebrating Five Years with the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce

Sen. Robinson and two individuals from the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce pose with a certificate at the senator’s office.

I am proud to celebrate five years with the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce (PAACC)! I look forward to continuing our partnership and growing our region’s economy together. Thank you to PAACC President Chris Heck and Lyndsay Davis for stopping by my office to present a certificate commemorating this milestone.

Upper St. Clair Community Day

A collage of 4 photos featuring Sen. Robinson as he shakes hands and poses with officials, speaks at a podium, and walks in a parade.

Last week, my staff and I had a great time participating in the 2026 Upper St. Clair Community Day! It was wonderful to see so many friends and neighbors along the parade route and at the event. Thank you to those who stopped by my booth with Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-40) to play America250PA trivia and learn about how we can help you.

Check out more photos from the Upper St. Clair Community Day here.

Emily Drake Awarded Honorary Doctorate

Sen. Robinson stands next to Emily Drake at the Robert Morris University 2026 commencement ceremony. Emily is wearing a graduation gown.

Last week, at the Robert Morris University commencement ceremony, 100-year-old WWII veteran, Emily Drake, was awarded an honorary degree. Emily was enrolled at Robert Morris in 1944 when she dropped out to enlist in the U.S. Army to join the war effort and never finished her degree. Congratulations to Emily on this incredible recognition!

Troop 215 Court of Honor Ceremony

Sen. Robinson stands with five scouts each holding their Senate citations in a room with green carpet and an American flag in the background.

Congratulations to Boyd Alspach, Connor Behr, Zachary Bateman, Connor Blocklin, and Nathan Disori from Troop 215 in Bethel Park on earning the rank of Eagle Scout! These scouts embody the Scout Law, adhering to high standards of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Thank you for your dedication and service to our community.

Rescue Dogs to Join Pittsburgh-Area Urban Search and Rescue Team

Screenshot of an Ellwood City Ledger newspaper article entitled “Rescue dogs to join Pittsburgh-area urban search team” by reporter Erin Yudt.

Urban Search and Rescue Strike Team 1 (USAR) is an invaluable resource to the safety and emergency response preparedness of Southwestern PA residents, which is why I fought so hard to create it in 2024 and secure additional funding for it in 2025.

I will continue to be a strong advocate for USAR, ensuring that they get the new equipment and necessary tools they need – including rescue dogs– to give disaster victims the best chance of survival.

Learn more about how rescue dogs will be an asset to USAR here.

Recognizing EMS Providers During National EMS Week

Six members of Ross Westview EMS – two women and four men – pose for a photo in their EMS uniforms with an American flag in the background.

In honor of National EMS week, thank you to our EMS professionals for your life-saving work and dedication to public safety. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do!

Check out more photos honoring our EMS providers from the 37th Senatorial District here.

Two ambulances and a squad vehicle sit in the driveway outside the garage doors at the McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority facility.

To celebrate the week, McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority (MFPAA) hosted an open house for community members to learn more about their organization, meet staff, and recognize two cardiac arrest survivors along with the dispatchers and MFPAA personnel who assisted in the rescue efforts. Thank you to these heroes for their bravery and dedication to our community!

During the ceremony, MFPAA announced that Allegheny County voted unanimously to designate a portion of the state opioid funds for an EMS grant to combat the opioid epidemic, improve proactive and reactive emergency responses to 911 calls, or purchase new life-saving equipment.

Structural Chiropractic Grand Opening

Sen. Robinson joins staff from the new Structural Chiropractic facility at their grand opening. The group cuts a ceremonial yellow ribbon.

Congratulations to Structural Chiropractic on their grand opening! At Structural Chiropractic they don’t just treat your symptoms – they work to identify and correct the structural abnormalities. We are pleased to welcome them to our community!

LAST CHANCE – Share Your Feedback on Legislation Addressing Lead in School Drinking Water

A gray graphic that reads “We Want Your Feedback” and features characters sitting on an animated scale that ranges from happy to sad.

It’s not too late to participate in my survey on legislation addressing the serious concern of lead-contaminated drinking water in Pennsylvania’s schools. The bill, which I’ve introduced alongside Sens. John Kane (D-9) and Art Haywood (D-4), would require school districts to replace old, outdated drinking fountains with lead-filtering hydration stations by 2028, and it would include funding mechanisms to help school districts achieve this goal.

Submit your feedback by 5 p.m., on May 25 on my website at https://senatorrobinson.com/survey/.

Education Savings Boost for Pittsburgh-Area Families

A dark blue graphic with the Keystone Scholars logo and the PA 529 program logo.

Treasurer Stacy Garrity recently announced Treasury’s partnership with Neighborhood Allies’ Fund My Future PGH to provide a $25 bonus deposit into eligible children’s Keystone Scholars accounts! That’s a total of $125 jumpstart to education savings.

Keystone Scholars provides every Pennsylvania child born in 2019 and after, including those adopted by a Pennsylvania family, a $100 scholarship for post-high school education which is invested by Treasury and grows alongside the child. The child can use the money once they turn 18 to help pay for a wide variety of education expenses, including technical, collegiate, apprenticeship, and credential programs. Employers and community organizations can add funds to the accounts, and families can save on their own with the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program.

To be eligible for the $25 bonus, families must claim their Keystone Scholars account and commit to continue saving by enrolling in Fund My Future PGH and opening their own long-term savings account, like a PA 529 account or other account with a bank or credit union between May 1, 2026, and July 31, 2026. Eligibility is limited to Allegheny County residents.

Fund My Future PGH helps families build healthy savings habits and realize expectations they have for their children. Participants in Fund My Future PGH also have the chance to win monthly raffles with cash prizes worth more than $2,000.

Waterways in our area and across the commonwealth provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy boating.

During National Safe Boating Week, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission offers a checklist of basic safety guidelines including:

  • Always wear a life jacket.
  • Never boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Have a float plan to let someone know when and where you will be boating.
  • Check the weather forecast for storms and high-water conditions.
  • Take a Boating Safety Education Course.

For more information on safe boating, to take a Boating Safety Education Course and to purchase launch permits, boat registration renewals, and fishing licenses, visit the commission’s boating webpage.

Mammo May: Questions to Ask Ahead of Your Mammogram

White text on pick background reading “Know before you go. Questions to answer before you schedule your diagnostic mammogram, breast MRI or ultrasound.

If you’re taking advantage of the new state law that covers diagnostic breast imaging at no cost for insured individuals, make your Mammo May complete by answering these key questions before you go:

  • Is this imaging considered screening or diagnostic?
  • Am I insured under PA law / is my plan state-regulated?
  • If yes, when will Act 52 take effect for me?
  • If yes, have I confirmed coverage with my insurer?

Honoring Those Who Gave All

Sen. Robinson speaks to crowds, shakes veterans’ hands, and watches a ceremonial wreath laying at Memorial Day events in the 37th district in 2025.
Memorial Day 2025 throwback photos.

Memorial Day is a time to pause as a nation and honor the memory of Americans who left their hometowns and laid down their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a debt we can never fully repay. We owe it to them to tell their stories and do our part as citizens of this great nation to ensure they did not die in vain.

Please consider attending one of the many events throughout the 37th Senatorial District on Monday to honor our fallen veterans.
