Robinson Votes to Advance Legislation to Require English Proficiency, Strengthen Penalties for Reckless Truck Drivers

The Senate Transportation Committee has approved legislation to protect Pennsylvania drivers by reinforcing commercial vehicle safety, according to Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37), who serves as vice chair of the committee. The effort to advance these bills comes on the heels of a tragic fatal crash in Indiana involving a PA-issued nondomiciled Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) held by an illegal immigrant from Kyrgyzstan and a wanted terrorist from Uzbekistan found to hold a PA-issued nondomiciled CDL. Each year on Dec. 7, we remember the 2,403 service members and civilians killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1941. A further 1,178 people were injured in the attack, which permanently sank two U.S. Navy battleships and destroyed 188 aircraft.

We remember not just the surprise attack, but the steely resolve of Americans to do whatever it took to defeat the Axis forces of World War II.

Meet Devlin Robinson

Senator Devlin Robinson was raised in Brookline in Pittsburgh’s south end. He served in the United States Marine Corps, completing three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. After he returned to Pittsburgh, he founded his own company and finished his education.

Robinson was first elected to the 37th Senatorial District in 2020. His legislative priorities include: lowering and reforming tax codes; assisting and honoring veterans, first responders and law enforcement; supporting small businesses; and enhancing manufacturing and labor opportunities. He has had nine bills signed into law.
