HARRISBURG – Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) commended the signing of legislation that strengthens penalties for reckless driving and illegal racing on Pennsylvania’s roadways.
As co-prime sponsor of the Senate bill, Robinson emphasized the critical role Act 103 of 2024 will play in reducing dangerous driving behaviors and improving road safety for all Pennsylvanians.
“Pennsylvania has taken a decisive step toward safer roads. Act 103 empowers law enforcement to address reckless driving with the tools needed to ensure accountability and safety,” said Robinson. “By increasing penalties, we are making it clear that endangering others through unlawful street races will not be tolerated.”
The act amends Title 75, increasing penalties for repeat traffic offenders, updating vehicle impoundment procedures and enhancing the legal framework for deterring highway racing. Robinson expressed appreciation for the other prime sponsors, Sens. Frank Farry (R-6), Wayne Langerholc (R-35) and Jimmy Dillon (D-5), and the bipartisan collaboration necessary to curbing highway fatalities and safeguarding Pennsylvania communities.
