HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania women who served in the armed forces have until May 9 to register for a state Capitol ceremony honoring their service, Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) said today.
The ceremony will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 10. The event is a special opportunity to recognize the courage and dedication of Pennsylvania’s women veterans from World War II to the present. Robinson encouraged women veterans from all branches of the military to attend and take part.
“As a Marine and a proud supporter of all who wear the uniform, I am deeply honored to help recognize the service and sacrifice of Pennsylvania’s women veterans,” said Robinson. “Their courage, strength and contributions to our nation’s defense deserve to be celebrated, and I encourage all women who served to join us for this special tribute at the Capitol.”
The first Women Veterans Day Capitol exhibit took place in 2023, after passage of legislation observing Women Veterans Day in Pennsylvania each year on June 12.
New participants are encouraged to share their service stories by completing the required submission form. Veterans featured in last year’s display and who wish to participate again may simply update their previous submission.
A virtual display will also be available online and will go live on June 9, at the website of the event’s host, www.senatorpennycuick.com/.
