Robinson Bills Rooted in Constituent Concerns Move Ahead

HARRISBURG – A slate of legislation championed by Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) advanced through key Senate committees this week, marking significant progress on issues ranging from public safety and veterans’ services to economic development and responsible fundraising.

“These bills reflect my continued commitment to serving our veterans and first responders, strengthening our communities, and making government more responsive and efficient,” said Robinson. “I appreciate the strong bipartisan support and look forward to seeing these measures continue to advance.”

Several Robinson-backed bills, including Senate versions of bipartisan House of Representatives proposals, were considered and approved in committee, moving them one step closer to final passage.

Modernizing Online Fundraising Regulations
Senate Bill 416, Robinson’s legislation to streamline regulations for online charitable fundraising, was approved unanimously by the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill would update the antiquated statute by allowing nonprofits to accept electronic methods of payment, such as Venmo, to purchase raffle tickets while ensuring accountability and consumer protections. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

Improving Hunting Opportunities for Disabled Veterans
Senate Bill 533, approved by the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, would waive hunting event permit fees for Purple Heart and other disabled veterans. Robinson introduced the bill to honor veterans’ service and increase their access to outdoor recreation for mental and physical rehabilitation. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

Combating Boat Abandonment
A House bill to address the growing problem of abandoned boats was passed by the Senate. Robinson is the sponsor of the Senate version of this bill, which would empower the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to remove derelict vessels from state waterways more efficiently and hold responsible parties accountable. The bill was passed by the Senate and now heads to the House of Representatives.

Supporting Surviving Spouses of Pittsburgh Firefighters
The Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee advanced legislation that allows spouses of deceased Pittsburgh firefighters to continue receiving pension benefits if they remarry.  This change brings pension parity for Pittsburgh firefighters to align with other first responders. Robinson has introduced the Senate counterpart and supports the reform to recognize the dedication of volunteer and career first responders. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

“Everything I do in Harrisburg is driven by the needs of my constituents,” said Robinson. “The bills I champion come directly from their concerns and ideas, and I’m proud to turn those into real results that improve lives in our communities.”
