WHAT: Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) will host a press conference to mark the Senate’s approval of his legislation prohibiting student cellphone use during the school day.
Senate Bill 1014, co-sponsored with Sens. Vince Hughes (D-7) and Steve Santarsiero (D-10), is designed to reduce classroom distractions, boost academic performance and address growing concerns about youth mental health and social development. The measure requires each school district to adopt a bell-to-bell cellphone policy under a consistent statewide standard: students may not carry or use cellphones during school hours
