HARRISBURG –– Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) and Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-40) will host an event Thursday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to assist constituents with license plate replacements, disability placards, and other motor vehicle-related services. The event will be held rain or shine in the parking lot outside Rep. Mihalek’s district office located at 1121 Boyce Rd., Suite 2200A, in Upper St. Clair.

“Our goal is to make state services more accessible and convenient for the people we serve,” Robinson said. “Whether someone needs a replacement license plate, assistance with a disability placard, or help navigating PennDOT paperwork, this event gives constituents the opportunity to receive one-on-one assistance close to home at no cost.”

A police officer will evaluate whether license plates are difficult to read and sign the necessary paperwork for eligible residents to receive a free replacement plate from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

“To ensure that constituents receive as many services as possible, this year we will be taking applications for disability parking placards and renewals for retired registrations,” Mihalek said. “Sen. Robinson and I look forward to hosting our Placard and Plate Event.”

A license plate is considered illegible when one or more letters or numbers cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if the plate shows blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity. PennDOT will replace an illegible plate free of charge with a completed Form MV-46, which must be signed by a law enforcement officer or certified inspection station verifying the plate’s illegibility. Vehicle owners must then submit the completed form to PennDOT to receive the replacement plate.

Drivers may face a $100 fine for displaying an illegible license plate.

All assistance at the event will be provided free of charge. Constituents with questions are encouraged to contact Robinson’s office at 412-785-3070 or Mihalek’s office at 724-942-2045.
