Robinson Announces More Than $6 Million for Marshall Township Water Treatment System Upgrades

HARRISBURG – Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) today announced that the Marshall Township Municipal Sanitary Authority (MTMSA) in Allegheny County will receive more than $6 million in Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) funding to support critical water treatment system upgrades.

The MTMSA, which provides wastewater collection and conveyance services to approximately 3,789 households in Marshall and Pine townships, as well as a small number of commercial properties in Bradford Woods Borough, will utilize these funds to enhance its wastewater infrastructure. The funding will help ensure the continued safe and efficient treatment of wastewater, which is then transferred to the Township of Cranberry and Butler County wastewater system.

“These much-needed upgrades to our wastewater treatment systems will strengthen our infrastructure and protect the health and well-being of our residents,” said Robinson. “This investment will also ensure that Marshall Township and surrounding communities have the capacity to support future growth, which is vital to our continued economic development.”

The funding comes in the form of a low-interest loan, offering an effective grant-equivalent of approximately $1.7 million over the life of the loan. These system improvements are essential for maintaining public health standards, meeting regulatory requirements and supporting the growing population in the region.

PENNVEST is an independent state agency that provides financial assistance for sewer, storm water and drinking water projects in communities across the commonwealth.
