Robinson Announces More Than $10.2 Million in Grants to Support Community and Educational Projects in Allegheny County

HARRISBURG Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) today announced more than $10.2 million in grants for projects in his district, benefiting local infrastructure, educational facilities and public services. The grants are being provided through the Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facilities Improvement Grant (PSFIG) programs.

“From improving educational facilities to upgrading municipal infrastructure, these grants will have a significant impact on our communities,” said Robinson. “It’s vital that we support local projects that benefit the lives of residents and provide much-needed resources for our schools, parks and public safety.”

Projects receiving funding include:

  • Avonworth School District: $1 million for a roof replacement project at Avonworth Middle/High School.
  • Bell Acres Borough: $16,150 for a municipal complex study.
  • Ben Avon Heights Borough: $181,100 for pedestrian improvements along Canterbury Road.
  • Bethel Park Borough: $338,186 for new restrooms at Miner’s Memorial Park and $52,407 for purchase of a police vehicle.
  • Bethel Park School District: $1.7 million for a roof replacement project at Independence Middle School.
  • Bradford Woods Borough: $466,000 for stormwater improvements.
  • Char-West Council of Governments: $500,000 for the purchase of a sewer cleaning vehicle for use by multiple municipalities.
  • Collier Township: $600,000 for Presto Volunteer Fire Department building renovations and $111,150 for improvements at Nevilleland Woodhall Pond.
  • Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority: $249,850 to replace waterline infrastructure along Mill Street and $174,600 to install mixing tanks at the School Street, Fleming Street and Cemetery Tanks.
  • Crescent Township: $233,333 for Main Street bridge repairs.
  • Edgeworth Borough Municipal Authority: $50,450 for the purchase of a hydro-vac trailer, $136,900 for the rehabilitation of exterior reservoir walls and $30,894 for roof and siding repairs at three pump stations.
  • Franklin Park: $100,000 for a bucket truck purchase and $60,000 to replace the roofs of the Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center and football concession building.
  • Jefferson Hills Borough: $119,400 for playground upgrades in borough parks.
  • Leet Township Municipal Authority: $155,000 for sanitary sewer improvements.
  • Marshall Township: $845,233 for Perry Highway (SR 19) Northgate Drive/Maple Drive Intersection improvements.
  • Moon Township: $750,000 for Hirshinger Pedestrian/Bike and Conservation Corridor property acquisition and $420,000 for the Boggs Run Volunteer Fire Company waterline extension project.
  • North Hills Council of Governments: $401,736 for purchase of a rescue vehicle.
  • Ohio Township: $500,000 for AHN Site Park improvements.
  • Pennsbury Village Borough: $225,999 for sanitary sewer rehabilitation.
  • Robinson Township Municipal Authority: $150,000 for a sanitary sewer extension project.
  • Sewickley Borough: $75,000 to install an elevator at the former post office building.
  • Upper St. Clair Township: $641,300 for improvements at the Morton Fields Complex.

“These projects will improve infrastructure, bolster public services and provide vital enhancements to schools and recreational spaces,” said Robinson. “I look forward to seeing the positive changes these grants will bring to our district.”

Under Pennsylvania’s 2004 Gaming Act, the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) developed program guidelines for LSA funds for projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development. The LSA receives gaming money generated by casinos. PSFIG provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects. The CFA is an independent state agency responsible for administering Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
