The Senate Transportation Committee recently held a joint hearing with the House to collect testimony on PA’s ignition interlock law. As vice chair of this committee, I appreciated hearing perspectives from PennDOT, safety groups, and residents on the importance of this law and how we can improve it.

Congratulations to the South Fayette High School Girls Basketball team on securing their first state championship win! It was wonderful to host the team at the Capitol and celebrate their incredible accomplishment. Best wishes for another great season! @southfayettesd

Tirelessly honoring veterans! George Reganick is a very special friend and fellow veteran. Every year he hosts a ceremony in @bethelparkpa to honor America’s heroes, both living and passed away. His commitment to their service is unparalleled.
This year, to my surprise, George also presented me with a plaque for my service. I am truly grateful and humbled by this honor. Thank you George for your service and thank you to all the other veterans.

Today we recognize the spouses of our military members for their support and dedication to our men and women in uniform.

Thank you to the many volunteers of the @waterlandlife for brightening our days. Each year, rain or shine, they place over 200,000 plants in 130 community flowerbeds, gardens, and green spaces in our region. This beautiful Western PA Conservancy spot is at Exit 57 of I-79 & Noblestown Rd. in @colliertownship

Congratulations! It is a good day for travelers from the South Hills as the ribbon was cut at the newly enhanced AAA Travel East Central offices on Fort Couch Road in @bethelparkpa . Thanks for inviting us be a part of the celebration.

Steelers fans celebrating our fellow PA team from the other side of the state! What a great experience seeing the Lombardi trophies in the Senate this week. Thanks to all who made it happen!

On Tuesday, my bill (SB700) to ensure that all students are reading proficiently by the third grade passed the Senate Education Committee with strong bipartisan support. Thanks to my colleagues for supporting this important measure.

I was proud to join my colleagues at the PA State Capitol today for the ‘Beagles and Bagels Legislative Briefing’ on PA Senate Bill 381. ‘The Beagle Bill’ would prevent laboratories from using state funds for painful experiments & procedures, expand use of non-animal tests & adoption opportunities & more. The PA House is also crafting similar humane legislation.

As part of @america250_pa celebrations, each county in The Commonwealth is planting a young Liberty Tree revived from the last known original. Liberty Trees were gathering places for the Sons of Liberty throughout the colonies. The discussions taking place in their shade planted the seeds of the American Revolution. We were happy to join @america250_pa, @padcnr, and The Pennsylvania Freemasons today at Point State Park to plant Allegheny County’s new, young Liberty Tree.

May 5-9 is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to our teachers in the 37th district and across the commonwealth for your dedication to student success.
